Experimental Music Night, ft. Brisbane Conduction Orchestra, Blue Stockings, & Callum Pask

BRISBANE CONDUCTION ORCHESTRA returns to the Cave - inviting YOU to come sit in with local musicians for a session (or two) of conducted improvisation!

A long-term passion project of Brisbane drumming legend Ben Shannon, Conduction builds on the ideas of Butch Morris to guide large ensembles through group improv via gestures, cues and whiteboard directions.

You can watch Ben's honours recital conduction here for some idea of what this looks & sounds like

BLUE STOCKINGS is Alison Paris and Chloe Hasson - an anti-classical duo who re-examine operatic folk throughout history with the air of goofy spookiness it deserves. Expect gothic German poetry, sonnets about cats, or something in-between.

CALLUM PASK is a local pianist whose style floats between jazz, neo-soul, & ambient harmonies. His trio have just released “Tabula Rasa” - a full-length incorporating all those influences and more with a range of guest collaborators.

Bring an instrument + amplifier if needed to sit in with Conduction Orchestra - the more obscure the better! If there are enough players we'll try run two sessions on the night with different rhythm sections & soloists

Free admission - donations encouraged!
